We have an active Brainwave group based in Christchurch who focus on promoting Brainwave locally,  fundraising, South Island presentations and issues.

Angela Mariott – Chairperson Christchurch group

Dr Patricia Champion - Patrica is the Founder of the Christchurch-based Champion Centre for children with developmental disabilities. We welcome her participation and advice as part of our local Christchurch Brainwave committee.

Nathan Mikaere-Wallis – Lecturer at the Christchurch College of Education. Nathan has a background of working with children in counselling settings relating to domestic violence, sexual abuse and childhood trauma. He is also a Brainwave presenter.

Miriam McCaleb -   Miriam has studied brain function in the USA, and is a certified trainer for PITC – the Program for Infant/Toddler Care.  She has been a teacher of adults: at Tennessee Tech University and the Christchurch College of Education; and of infants and toddlers.  She has also written for a variety of parenting and early childhood publications in NZ and the USA and is a Brainwave presenter. 

Lauren Porter – Lauren obtained her Masters Degree in Social Work from New York University, USA in 1995 and has since been dedicated to working with families, children and adolescents in the field of mental health counseling and training. Lauren has worked in a wide range of settings and communities, including Germany and the US, in addition to New Zealand.  Her current professional focus is the merging of attachment theory with neuroscientific data, with an eye toward the practical applications of everyday life. She is a member of the External Advisory Group for the NZ Government Taskforce on Child Maltreatment, a member of the Attachment Parenting International Research Group (API-RG) and on the Infant Mental Health Association Aotearoa New Zealand (IMHAANZ) Executive Committee. She is the mother of two children.  She is presently working with Brainwave Trust to deliver presentations to the Canterbury community.

Anne Feld – Plunket Area Manager for Mid/South Canterbury. With her support they work closely with the Plunket nurses who provide an important supportive role for many families within the community.

James (Jim) Sole – Supervisor for the Family Safety Team for the NZ Police Force in Christchurch. Jim is also a newly trained Brainwave presenter.
