Dr. Susan Foster-Cohen
Dr Foster-Cohen is the Director of the Christchurch-based intervention centre known as the Champion Centre for children with developmental disabilities. She is an expert in children’s language development and has published and lectured widely on child development in the UK, USA and France before moving permanently to New Zealand. She works with the teams of clinicians and family/whanau at the Centre to implement the best in early intervention therapies. She believes that with the right approach, all children with disabilities can reach their full potential, no matter how difficult their start or how rocky the road. Her greatest pleasure is to visit graduates of the Champion Centre happy and learning in their mainstream primary classrooms, and to know that the baby steps the Centre staff helped them take can become giant strides as they grow and develop.
