Wendy Nelson
Wendy is a New Zealand Registered Nurse who has 28 years experience in paediatrics and holds a BSc (Hons) in Nursing Studies. She commenced her career in general paediatrics followed by several years Plunket Nursing in the Wellington region, thereafter moving to London in 1986 where she became involved in Paediatric oncology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. It is here that Wendy became a Charge Nurse covering oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplantation. She moved into the role of the Ward Based Educator, before finally returning to NZ in 2000. Wendy was the President of her local Plunket Committee for several years and is now very involved in her local school as Vice President of the PTA as well as coaching and managing several children’s sports teams. She is a mother of 2 sports-mad boys aged 9 and 11 and married to an equally sports-mad architect.
