Maria is Wairarapa born and bred, who, after overseas travel and work across the country, returned to her own community to raise her family. She is passionate about education and vulnerable families and has spent most of her career working in and around the education sector.

Maria has held a variety of roles at Brainwave Trust Aotearoa over the last nine years. She has been National Programme Development Manager, National Coach and Schools Programme Leader.

She has a strong academic background with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, a Diploma in Teaching and various qualifications in Counselling and Small business management. She also has Governance and Board experience across a range of sectors.

Maria looks forward to creating and growing strong positive relationships across a diverse range of communities throughout New Zealand to ensure every child gets a chance to reach their potential.
