Catherine currently works as a medical writer in the Department of Paediatrics: Child and Youth Health at The University of Auckland. She started her medical writing career with Brainwave and still serves with their scientific advisory group.

Catherine comes from a background in cell and molecular biology research, completing her PhD at the Australian National University (Canberra), followed by postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University (California) and The University of Auckland. She has worked in the fields of cancer biology and neuroscience and has worked as a lecturer at The University of Auckland.

Between her research and writing careers Catherine was the primary carer for her two children, now in primary school. She enjoys raising them with her husband and parenting companion, Gavin. In her ‘spare’ time she is embracing creativity and learning to paint.
