Who are we?
At Brainwave we know every childhood matters; that is why we speak up about the importance of brain development in the early years.
How do we do it?
We collate the world-wide science on brain development and make it simple so all audiences can engage and use the information. We do this through seminars and workshops nationwide.
Who do we do it for?
Prospective parents, parents, professionals, students and the wider community so that they gain the knowledge and confidence to nurture and value all children because they understand the impact early experiences have on the developing brain.
Why do we do it?
To help ensure children in New Zealand get a good start in life, in a safe, secure and nurturing environment, free from abuse and neglect.
Through education and motivation we aim to:
- Reduce childhood abuse and neglect
- Strengthen family and community well-being
- Inform professionals working with young children and youth so they can use this knowledge in their everyday decision-making and practice
- Create intergenerational change in attitudes to parenting by reaching the next generation of parents.
